Isolation – Henry Zhang
Madison Perry
Its Name is the Future
It’s something I think about
When lying in bed
I always feel it
Looming over my head
As much as I try to control it
It finds a way to tame me instead
There are two parts
Named Far and Near
The uncertainty it brings
Is what causes so much fear
Its face is undetermined
Just like the place
It will lead me to
Sometimes I start to wonder
What would happen if I knew?
What would happen if it let me see
The place that I will be
With it as my guide?
Would I laugh, would I cry?
Would I smile, or simply sigh?
Do I want to see its face
See its hands see its eyes
Do I really want to see what the rest of my life will be like?
Its name is the Future
Yes, that is so
And I don’t know where it will take me
Or where I want to go.
